The L.A. Students Count campaign fights to protect education funding for our children. If the current state budget becomes a reality, Governor Schwarzenegger's devastating proposed reductions would force LAUSD to slash more than $460 million in funding. It would be the equivalent of closing 22 LAUSD high schools or eliminating 5,750 District employees. These types of budget cuts are unacceptable and the District would never approve them, but the examples illustrate the magnitude that the damaging reductions would have on our schools.
